Meta Description

A meta description is an HTML attribute that provides a brief summary of a web page’s content. It is typically displayed in search engine results pages (SERPs) beneath the page title and URL, offering users a snapshot of what the page is about.

Although meta descriptions do not directly influence search engine rankings, they play a crucial role in attracting clicks from users by providing a compelling and relevant preview of the page’s content. A well-crafted meta description should be concise, usually between 150-160 characters, and include relevant keywords that align with the user’s search intent. It should also be written in a way that entices users to click through to the website, effectively serving as a call to action. While search engines may sometimes generate their own descriptions based on the page content, providing a custom meta description allows webmasters to have some control over how their pages are presented in search results.
