However, excessive keyword density, known as “keyword stuffing,” can lead to penalties from search engines, as it is considered a manipulative practice. Optimal keyword density varies, but it generally ranges from 1% to 3%. The focus should be on creating high-quality, relevant content that naturally incorporates keywords, rather than forcing them into the text. Modern SEO practices emphasize user experience and content quality over strict adherence to keyword density, as search engines have evolved to understand context and semantics better.
